Dalmore Port Wood starts its maturation journey in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. After a certain period, the matured spirit is divided equally into two batches.
While one of these batches continue its maturation in the same casks, the other half is transferred into port pipes seasoned with Tawny Port from the world famous W and J Graham’s vineyard in Portugal for some additional ageing. Finally, both of these batches are remarried to be bottled.

About the Producer
Founded by Sir Alexander Matheson in 1839, the Dalmore distillery has been making masterpieces of whisky on the shores of the Cromarty Firth ever since.
In 1839, the Dalmore distillery was founded by Alexander Matheson, a merchant adventurer determined to create an exceptional single malt whisky. In 1867, descendants of Clan Mackenzie took control of the distillery. One of their first changes was to adorn every bottle of The Dalmore with the stag – a guarantee of peerless quality.
We shine, not burn. In a world of possibility, we are virtuosos, always in pursuit of new perspectives. We are audacious and bold, constantly in motion – it is in our blood and inspires our soul. Our whisky making artistry shines.
The gift of a King, the 12-point Royal Stag proudly adorns each bottle of The Dalmore. It encapsulates the distillery’s regal legacy, dating back to 1263. The emblem was bestowed upon Colin of Kintail, the first chieftain of Clan Mackenzie, after he saved the life of King Alexander III of Scotland from the fury of a charging stag.
