To commemorate the Hacienda’s bicentennial in 1996, Alberto Vollmer Herrera, member of the 4th generation of the family, challenged the company to develop a rum that could leverage all its mastery learned in the first 200 years.
SANTA TERESA 1796 is a bold, elegant rum blend aged up to 35 years in bourbon oak barrels, then processed using the artisanal Solera Method, resulting in an exceptionally rich rum with an unexpected dry finish. This complex craftsmanship infuses a variety of subtle flavors and aromas into the finished liquid's unique flavor profile.

With an amber color and a fruity aroma, its taste is complex while also gentle. Santa Teresa 1796 has a firm body and is delicate and elegant rum, which reminds the essence of the oak in which it was aged. Best of all rums, Santa Teresa 1796, is ideal straight.
Master of rums and our flagship, Santa Teresa 1796 results from a careful blend of Santa Teresa's finest aged spirits, ranging from 4 to 35 years. Presented to the market in 1996 for the bicentennial of the county property, it is the fruit of our ancestral tradition. Santa Teresa 1796 is the first of the premium anejo rums in the world to be aged in the old Solerathat combines barrel and cask "crianzas", followed by a cascade process. These factors, along with the lightness ensured by good aging, provide it with a mature body and turn 1796 into an exceptional product.
Santa Teresa Rum 1796 has been making bold choices for over 225 years to create extraordinary results becoming Venezuela’s oldest rum producer of award-winning single estate rums. It’s the world’s first super premium rum made using the artisanal Solera method, resulting in an unexpectedly dry, smooth and balanced rum.
This rum is aged up to 35 years in bourbon oak barrels, fermented, distilled, and blended with sugar cane and natural water all on the Hacienda estate. Surprisingly dry, yet smooth and balanced, this amber rum delivers a fruity aroma with notes of wood, and a unique taste of vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, hints of honey and peppery finish. When you want to try something new, mark the end of a day or simply conclude a meal, sip this aged rum neat, on the rocks, or enjoy in different cocktails like a Santa Teresa Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Negroni.
