Old Forester Single Barrel is crafted using the time-honored methods established over 140 years ago. Depending on the barrel selected and the angel’s share lost to evaporation during aging the barrel, producing very limited quantities.

With a rich, robust bourbon profile Old Forester Single Barrel offers a truly one of a kind taste experience.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A somewhat tame and straightforward aroma consisting of cherry cough syrup, granny smith apples, crème brûlée, and wet oak. It’s a pleasant aroma that’s easy to enjoy, but surprising for how restrained it is for the proof.

Palate: Potent with a burst of roasted pecans, thick oak, black cherries, and leather. The flavors all come at you at one speed and aren’t quite as punchy as I’d like them to be. The sip has a bold flavor overall thanks to its proof, but it's just not very exciting.
 
Finish: A long hot finish of pecan, seasoned oak, burnt caramel, pepper, and mild bitterness. It’s a serviceable finish that packs flavor and heat, but like the palate, it isn't very thrilling.

A century and a half ago, Whiskey Row was the economic center of Louisville – home to distillers, wholesalers and Old Forester, America’s First Bottled Bourbon. In 1870, George Garvin Brown signed and sealed Old Forester with a promise: a handwritten guarantee to produce Bourbon of the highest consistent quality. As you step into 119 West Main Street, the same four walls that Old Forester called home before Prohibition, you’ll see that the times have changed, but the promise of sealed-in quality from the First Bottled Bourbon endures.

You can’t separate the stories of Bourbon and Louisville – a rich, entwined history that’s created the fabric of our hometown. At the Old Forester Distilling Company, you’ll learn about the histories of both, and of course, that of the Hometown Bourbon of Bourbon’s Hometown.
