Benriach The Sixteen Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750 ML

  • PRODUCER:

    The Benriach Distillery

  • REGION:

    Speyside, Scotland

  • AGING:

    16 Years

After sixteen years of maturation, Benriach develops a richly balanced evolution of our signature Speyside style. Three cask maturation in bourbon, sherry and virgin oak brings layers of stone fruit, smooth creamy malt, wild honey, and nutty oak spice.

An exciting addition to the Benriach collection, with a shiny new unpeated 16-year-old single malt! Matured in a selection of bourbon, sherry, and virgin oak casks, The Sixteen is based on a revised recipe of its much-adored predecessor, Benriach 16-Year-Old. With a generously fruity core, supported by layers of creamy malt and toasted spice, it's a splendid sipper from the Speyside-based distillery.

"Our signature Speyside style blossoms at ten years old, finding depth and richer layers of orchard fruit character as it turns sixteen. Our core flavour components of fruit, malt and oak become more concentrated, enriched with age at sixteen years old, bringing layers of stone fruit, smooth creamy malt, wild honey, and nutty oak spice."

About the Producer

John Duff duly established Benriach Distillery in 1898 just south of Elgin complete with a siding connecting it directly to the great North of Scotland Railway. But Benriach was forced to close in 1900 and remained closed until 1965 and whilst its traditional floor maltings continued to operate complete with the pagoda roof over the malt kiln it too finally closed in 1999.

Having re-opened in 2004 the Benriach range is now extensive and features age expressions beginning with Benriach 10 years, 16-Year-Old and vintage cask releases running back to the 1970s. The distillery is owned by Brown Forman of America.

A Unique Heritage

The Benriach Distillery was founded in 1898 and although the rough-hewn walls of the warehouses may seem unassuming, they are home to a rare breed of creative expertise in whisky distilling and eclectic cask maturation. Our ingenious and dedicated team spend their days crafting our award-winning Speyside single malts and tirelessly pushing the limits of flavour possibility. We are proud to say we haven’t reached them yet.
