The darkest and most intense whisky in the distiller’s extra-matured range, this single malt Highland Scotch spends 10 years maturing in American white oak casks before being transferred into Ruby Port pipes for 2 years. The additional aging results in a voluptuous spirit with a complex balanced of sweet and dry flavors and an intriguing contrast of smooth and crisp textures. It won a Double Gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

"Typical Morangie complexity...portrayed with clarity and confidence... form of cask finishing that has progressed from experimentation to certainty."

Product Details

The aromas of this single malt whisky are complex and varied, with dark mint chocolate, tangerines and Seville oranges mingling with sandalwood and walnut that gives way to a spicy finish of pepper and nutmeg. The palate shows velvety mint chocolate and walnuts, evolving into rose, Turkish delight and sweet Seville oranges, with a long and silky finish. The darkest and most intense whisky in the distiller’s extra-matured range, this single malt Highland Scotch spends ten years maturing in American white oak cask before being transferred into Ruby Port pipes for two years. The additional aging results in a voluptuous spirit with a complex balanced of sweet and dry flavors, and an intriguing contrast of smooth and crisp textures. It won a Gold medal at the 2013 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

About the Producer

Glenmorangie Distillery is located in Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. According to the Glenmorangie Company, the earliest record of the production of alcohol at Morangie Farm dates back to 1703. The distillery was purchased by its main customer, the Leith firm Macdonald and Muir, in 1918, and the Macdonald family retained control of the company for almost ninety years. The name Glenmorangie is believed to derive from either Gaelic Gleann Mòr na Sìth "vale of tranquillity" or Gleann Mór-innse "vale of big meadows.” Today, the company is owned by The Glenmorangie Company Ltd., whose main product is the range of Glenmorangie single malt whisky.
