Made from the maceration of ginger root with the addition of lemon oil, this British liqueur was originally commissioned by the royal physician in 1903 for King Edward VII. Its warm palate and long finish with notes of ginger, zesty lemon, sherbet and golden syrup won it a Silver medal at the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

" It has a rich, full body (thanks in part to the high proof) that's more brown-spirit than fresh ginger, and the taste develops in your mouth to mirror that of a spicy ginger chew."

Product Details

This high-strength liqueur is created by the careful maceration of ginger root, and enlivened by the judicious addition of citrus in the form of lemon oil for an unexpectedly fresh lift. It tempts with a seductive golden color, and an instantly warming aroma of ginger, zesty lemon, sherbet and golden syrup. Initial sweetness on the palate is followed by a bit of ginger and lemon tart; its deliciously satisfying and warming mouth feel is followed by an extremely long, lingering finish. It was originally created in 1903 for King Edward VII to drink on his morning car rides, and commissioned by the royal physician. Sip it by itself or on the rocks, or in cocktails that call for ginger liqueur.

About the Producer

The King’s Ginger has been produced since 1903 by Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchant, which has traded from the same shop for over 300 years. Members of the Berry and Rudd families continue to own and manage the family-run wine merchant business and uphold the traditions and qualities of this special company. A few years ago, the company went through an amalgamation along with Anchor Brewing Company, Anchor Distilling Company and Preiss Imports, which together along with Berry Bros. & Rudd formed Anchor Brewers & Distillers, which is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
