"It's an absolute knockout. The young rye spirit gives it a fresh, spicy, minty scent which mingles beautifully with deep maple and brown sugar notes."

Product Details

No extra flavors or additives are included in this New York whiskey. It’s made by taking the distiller’s Manhattan Rye—distilled from locally-sourced New York rye—and giving it a double barrel treatment. It’s first aged in American oak for four years, and then finished in used maple syrup barrels. While the spirit is aging, deep bass music is played in the warehouse, which creates micro-expansiond and contractions that add to the interaction of the wood and the whiskey. The result is a sultry, slightly decadent spirit that never loses its rye character, which has notes of maple syrup, tea, vanilla and rye toast.

About the Producer

Tuthilltown Spirits Farm Distillery is New York’s first whiskey distillery since Prohibition. For two hundred twenty years, Tuthilltown Gristmill, a landmark which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, used waterpower to render local grains to flour. In 2001, Ralph Erenzo and Vicki Morgan acquired the riverfront property and two years later, Ralph Erenzo and Brian Lee created Tuthilltown Spirits LLC, converting one of the mill granaries to a micro-distillery. Two and a half years later, Tuthilltown Spirits produced its first batches of vodka from scraps they collected at a local apple slicing plant. Today, Tuthilltown Spirits distills vodka, other spirits and the highly awarded Hudson Whiskey line, using grain harvested by farmers less than ten miles away. The distillery also employs a method of sonic aging—where they play deep bass music in the warehouse to create vibrations and micro-expansions and micro-contractions in the barrel—which is unique in the industry. In 2010, the brand was acquired by William Grant & Sons.
