Aged for 14 years, this groundbreaking whisky is matured in bourbon and sherry casks before being finished in the highest quality ex-cognac casks for at least 6 months. This finish brings a uniquely rich and intense flavor to the iconic fruity and floral style of The Glenlivet.

Featuring raisin-rich cognac and signature citrus notes married with creamy smoothness, the luscious liquid has traveled from bourbon and sherry casks to a selective finish in cognac casks. Bursting with sweet and fruity aromas and inspired by Captain Bill Smith Grant, great-grandson of our Founder George Smith, The Glenlivet 14-Year-Old shines as a proud celebration of our Speyside craft. Wander from the misty glens of Scottish Speyside to the rolling vineyards of France’s Cognac region at every sip.

When you see the "14" you can bet there’s a story behind it. The story behind The Glenlivet 14YO Cognac Cask Finish started as a limited edition in 2018 called "Captain’s Reserve" — aged fourteen years is ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks, before finishing in ex-Cognac casks made of Limousines oak. The flavor profile was exceptionally well-received, so it has been renewed with a few tweaks. Expect the classic notes you love in Glenlivet with additional notes of sultanas and mandarins.

Composed of a mash bill derived from 100% malted barley, this delightfully fruity single malt opens with a nose full of plump grapes and summer oranges over warm spice, cream, and oak.

Tasting Notes:

Taste: The palate is rich and creamy with vanilla, crunchy toffee, warm pears, mandarin oranges, milk chocolate, and sultanas.

About the Producer

During the early 19th century, illegal distilleries were commonplace throughout the Speyside region of Scotland. In 1823, however, Alexander Gordon pushed the Excise Act of 1823 through Parliament. The Excise Act allowed illegal distillers throughout Scotland to apply for and obtain licenses to legally distill spirits. In 1824, a businessman named George Smith applied for one of the first licenses in the Speyside region of Scotland and opened the doors to The Glenlivet Distillery. For nearly two centuries, The Glenlivet Distillery has been producing the “single malt whisky that started it all.”

Today Glenlivet is one of the "Big Three" Single Malt producers. Their Whiskies are Speyside and the water for the mash comes famously from"Josie’s Well" nearby. Glenlivet produces a wide variety of Single Malt aging and cask combinations, with the remaining Spirit an indispensable component in some of the most famous blends.

The Glenlivet distillery is a distillery near Ballindalloch in Moray, Scotland that produces single malt Scotch whisky. It is the oldest legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet, and the production place of the Scottish whisky of the same name. It was founded in 1824 and has operated almost continuously since. The distillery remained open throughout the Great Depression and its only closure came during World War II. The Glenlivet distillery has grown in the post-war period to become one of the biggest single malt distilleries. The Glenlivet brand is the biggest selling single malt whisky in the United States and the second biggest selling single malt brand globally.

Today, the distillery is owned by the French alcoholic beverages company Pernod Ricard, which also oversees the distillery's production of 5,900,000 proof liters per annum. The majority of this – enough for 6 million bottles – is sold as The Glenlivet single malt, with the remainder being used in Pernod Ricard's blended whisky brands.
