This limited edition blended malt whisky is rich and full on the palate, with complex earthy peat and smoke characters and hints of citrus fruit, nuttiness and toasted oak. It uses exactly the same components as the house’s Peat Monster, but is delivered at cask strength in a magnum bottle. The marriage of Islay and heavily peated Highland single malts create a concentrated and powerful warming spectrum of seaside and medicinal peatiness, smokiness and a core of fruity malt whisky characters. For the bold, it is an incredibly complex and warming whisky to enjoy at cask strength, but it’s fascinating to see it evolve with small amounts of water.
About the Producer
After many years in the wine trade, American ex-pat John Glaser entered the world of Scotch whisky, learning his art through one of the industry's largest companies. In 2000, he started Compass Box Whisky Company, based on his commitment to evolving practices in the industry to make great Scotch whisky more approachable and relevant to more people. From the beginning, his vision has been to create one of Scotland's finest and most exciting whisky companies, re-establishing the standards for quality and style in the industry. Today, John Glaser is considered one of the most respected whiskymakers of his generation. Compass Box is a blender, bottler and marketer of a range of award-winning blended Scotch whiskies and is headquartered in London, England. Compass Box does not distill its own whisky. Rather, its whisky makers select distillates from a number of existing Scotch whisky distilleries, blend them together, mature them further and bottle and sell the spirits.
