Great structure. Firm, muscular and more complex than expected. Several layers of flavour are melding into a barley sugar and oak mellowed texture while drifting over sweet kiln-dried barley. The senses are singing with joy as it zings over the palate leaving no doubt as to the island of its birth.

About the Producer

Bruichladdich Distillery was built in 1881 by brothers William, John and Robert Harvey on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The Harveys were a dynastic whisky family that had owned two Glasgow distilleries since 1770. Using an inheritance, the three brothers combined their talents to build a third distillery—Bruichladdich—designed by John, engineered by Robert, and financed by William and other family members. It changed hands several times over the years, and closed in 1994. It re-launched in 2001, and was purchased in 2012 by Rémy Cointreau. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, and still uses a lot of its original Victorian equipment.

    Exquisite one of Scotland's best

    (Posted on 9/26/2018)

Absolutely splendid evening had enjoying this exceptional distillation upon the Isle Skye with long-lost family & friends. Brought a bottle home for my whiskey (or should I say whisky it being Scotch!) aficionado father who has a fine collection.
