Seven pounds of high starch, late-harvested Stobrawa potatoes from Podlaise, Poland go into every bottle of this vodka, named for the country’s legendary composer Frederic Chopin. Alluring aromas of vanilla and green apple are joined by a creamy and well-rounded palate and a long, clean finish. It garnered a Gold medal at the 2011 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

"Chopin delivers just enough burn on the way down the gullet to reinforce the notion that you are, in fact, a grown-up drinking a big-people drink."

Product Details

Produced only from mid-September into early December, this vodka is crafted from naturally grown potatoes by select local farmers in the fertile Podlasie countryside. Late harvested potatoes ensure a higher starch content and a richer, more flavorful spirit, and as many as seven pounds of potatoes are required per bottle, which are unpeeled, pressure-cooked and distilled four times, before being distilled with artesian well water and filtered five times. The resulting vodka, named for iconic Polish composer Frederic Chopin, has an alluring nose and subtle notes of vanilla and green apple. It is creamy and well-rounded on the palate, with a reassuring earthiness and a long, clean finish, which earned it a Gold medal from the Chicago Beverage Testing Institute’s International Review of Spirits Awards. Try it in a CEO: a Chopin Martini with extra olives.

About the Producer

The historic Podlaska Wytwórnia Wódek, Polmos-Siedlce Distillery is tucked within the fertile farmland of the Podlasie region, in the eastern Polish town of Krzesk. Here, Chopin Vodka is crafted by a small team on seventeen acres dotted with ponds, rows of roses and herbs, a 19th-century windmill, and a thoroughly modern helipad. Chopin Vodka was first introduced to North America in 1997, and had been owned until recently by LVMH. It was repurchased by Tad Dorda, one of the original owners and part of the Polmos SiedIce Distillery.
