This low-proof, Italian herbal liqueur is crafted with ingredients including bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb and cinchona. Citrus-y, herbal and mildly bitter, with a striking orange hue, it’s the perfect ingredient for aperitifs and cocktails, and it won a Double Gold medal at the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

"This liqueur’s most noteworthy ingredient (not including sugar) is bitter orange, though a host of other bitter roots are also used to give it its flavor. Lighter in color and much less bitter than Campari, the spirit is a bittersweet beauty."

Product Details

With a recipe that dates back to 1919, this Italian herbal liqueur became famously popular in World War II—despite its exceptionally mild alcohol content. Bitter orange is blended with rhubarb, gentian and cinchona, among other herbs, leading to flavors of orange, wood and herbs. Pleasantly bittersweet and salty, with a touch of herbal bitterness on the finish, the liqueur is velvety and round on the palate. Its mild and easy-drinking style works well in a cocktails like the Aperol Spritz, with 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperola and 1 part soda water, garnished with an orange twist.
