First produced in 1845, this unapologetically bitter Italian liqueur is made from herbs and spices including gentian, angelica, quinine, rhubarb, myrrh, peppermint and cinnamon, and aged for a year in oak barrels before bottling. Its overt menthol and bitter flavor has made it a favorite as a digestif and as an accent in cocktails, and it won a Gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

"Strong, bitter, and dry, Fernet is also surprisingly refreshing, if you know what you’re in for."

Product Details

This iconic and intensely bitter Italian liqueur is a blend of dozens of herbs and spices from around the world, including bitter aloe, gentian, chamomile, angelica, quinine, Colombo root, rhubarb, myrrh, peppermint, cinnamon, saffron and others. It is aged for a year in oak barrels before bottling, which adds additional flavor and color. Its overt methol and bitter flavors have made it a must-have bottle on the shelf for many. Enjoy it chilled as a digestif, or as an interesting accent to cocktails.

About the Producer

Fernet Branca is produced in Milan, Italy at the Fratelli Branca Distillery. Bernandino created the recipe in 1845, and the liqueur has been produced according to the original recipe, passed down through the generations, and kept a secret. There is only one custodian of the formula, who personally measures out the aromatics during the production process.
