Product Details

The distinctive flavor of this liqueur comes from an infusion of thirteen herbs and plants, with the primary ingredient being artichoke. Known for its versatility and unique flavor, it was launched in Italy in 1952, is completely natural and is bottled at a moderate 33 proof. It makes an interesting cocktail accent, where it adds enticingly bitter, dry notes and multi-layered complexity; in Europe, it’s routinely mixed with orange juice.

About the Producer

Cynar was created in Italy in 1952, and its history is closely tied to its successful television advertisements in the 1960s by Ernesto Calindri. In 1995, Cynar was purchased by Gruppo Campari.

i can't believe it's as good as it is. i work at a bar that serves this. i tell customers it's like heavenly agrodolce artichoke robitussin---oh yeah, it's a little robitussiny, but in a good way. weirdly, there seems to be [at least the beginners of] a cynar cult in baltimore. (not my doing, but i rejoice in it.) :)

can't get enough of that cynar stuff.
