Product Details

The nose of this single barrel single malt Scotch expression has honey notes overlaid with sweet fruits and subtle spices. The palate is rich and complex with a deep vanilla oakiness, while the finish is lingeringly sweet. The whisky has been aged twelve years in first-fill Bourbon casks from a single distillation. Hand-selected barrels showing sweetness and subtle vanilla oakiness are filled at cask strength in no more than three hundred hand-numbered bottles. No two casks—even of the same type and filled with spirit from the same distillation—will produce an identical single malt, so each bottling is unique and unrepeatable.

About the Producer

The Balvenie Distllery was founded in 1893 by William Grant. It takes its name from Balvenie Mains--the fields that give the whisky its grain--and Balvenie Castle, which both figure in the history of the British Isles. Their whisky is made with local spring water, lightly peated, and fermented in the unique "Balvenie ball" copper pot still that is meant to concentrate and sweeten the flavors. The distillery has its own cooperage to maintain its casks, and offers a range of Scotch as well as several limited editions matured in different woods with aging times. Today, the company is owned by William Grant and Sons, yet still grows its own barley from its thousand-acre farm.
