Product Details
This handcrafted Bourbon is blended in small batches of eight to ten barrels at a time, aged for up to six years in new American oak, and then rested three to six months in sixty-gallon Ruby Port barrels made from French oak and imported from Portugal (a practice that’s unusual for Bourbon, but common for Scotch.) It's bottled at 86.6 proof, with aromas of subtle vanilla, raisins, maple syrup and toasted nuts joined on the palate by ripe fruit, maple and bitter chocolate. The finish is clean, with a lingering sweetness and a hint of Madeira. Though around five percent is lost per year due to evaporation (the so-called “Angel’s Share”), the producer deems what’s left behind as truly worthy of envy. It was called a “fireside sipper” by the 2013 Beverage Testing Institute.About the Producer
Angel’s Envy—both the whiskey and a company—were launched in 2012 by Lincoln Henderson, a former employee of Jack Daniels and Woodford Reserve who came out of retirement to “create the world’s finest Bourbon on his own terms.” The self-described “malcontents” of the company continually strive to make sure to meet and exceed standard and legacy of excellence. In 2015, Angel's Envy Bourbon was purchased by the Bacardi corporation.10 People Have Already Reviewed This Product

Whiskey graced with the presence of port
(Posted on 12/4/2015)
Thanks to being aged in port casks, this Angel’s Envy bourbon boasts loads of gustatory layers. First, you’ll notice raisins in the aroma, then a slight grape-y undertone upon first swish. It features a silky mouthfeel and isn’t too viscous. A glimmer of port sweetness makes its presence known, and right before it dissipates completely, it re-emerges on your tongue once you’ve swallowed. There’s not much of a burn as it goes down, but just enough pleasing fire to give the spirit some spice.

Outstanding sipper

This is a very smooth sipping bourbon. There is just the slightest hint of deep fruit on the back.

Excellent bang for the buck
(Posted on 12/20/2015)
I'm very particular about my bourbon, and Angel's Envy is one of my favourites at this price point. Not too sweet, with the wonderful warmth of the port finish, Angel's Envy has a smoothness that is singularly spot-hitting.

Very Smooth, Delicious Bourbon
(Posted on 11/3/2015)
One of the smoother bourbons I've tasted. Love the port notes that it picks up in the finishing process. Definitely one of my top 3 bourbons. Great value for the quality.
